Qualitative Research Software can be very useful but it will not solve all your problems and it can create new problems you may not want to deal with. You have to play with it yourself and use it to solve authentic problems that you already have. Some instruction can help but it takes much more than reading about it, being told about it, or watching someone else drive.

The only way to learn how to drive a car is to drive a car. NVivo is just one of many qualitative research software packages and I think the only way to really get comfortable using them is to play with them.
These codes can themselves then be associated with one another so that meaningful notions can be built inductively from data. Basically she had planned to show how the software can be used to link data to categories by coding. Rather it was intended to be an introduction to some of the affordances of qualitative research software. But basically it was not intended to be a workshop in how to use NVivo.
